THE SPIRIT OF VICTORS - DARTZ BRAND IDENTITY

IGOR SIKORSKY & ANDRÉ NÁGEL - VICTORS ON LAND & IN THE SKIES

 

Our Brand Identity is shaken, but not stirred. Iconic images of two world legends, two Victors - and two RBVZ employees - Igor Sikorsky, Head of the Aeronautical Department, and André Nágel, RBVZ Press Attaché and Chief of the Racing Tests Department. Both began their journey to fame and victories at RBVZ, and both helped make RBVZ famous: Igor Sikorsky in the skies, André Nágel on the land. Their stories and histories deserved books and movies - and they got exactly what they deserved. We are about DARTZ Brand Identity, inspired not only by their Spirit but also literally drawn from their iconic images, with a subtle fleur of Riga’s Art Deco. 

SPIRIT TAKES FORM

 This almost-mystic story began, as such stories must, on New Year’s Eve, December 31, 1911, when the brave RBVZ driver André Nágel, with co-pilot Milkhailoff, started his journey to victory in the Monte Carlo Rally…1912. And that’s not a misprint - this was one of their still-unbeatable results: the Rally of the next year started in the previous year. 

 As RBVZ cars had earned the marque of The Royal Court Supplier, the hood of his car was decorated with the Russian Imperial Eagle. On January 1, when Nágel returned to Riga, RBVZ engineers presented him with a personally created mascot, which you can see in the image. 

We cannot confirm what exactly inspired them to create the mascot - the newly opened Aeronautical Department of RBVZ in 1911, or Nágel’s participation in the Rally - but we can show the image and tell the story. Nágel received the present, loved the mascot, but… he represented not only the factory, but the entire Russian Empire, and the Imperial Eagle - just like the Russian flag - was a must-have on this car.

So we can consider 1911/1912 as the birthday of the Spirit of Victors, in every sense of the word.

 

The RBVZ car came first in the Monte Carlo Rally of 1912, driving through nearly minus thirty degrees Celsius, with snow over the axle level - and only a fabric roof.
Only the pure military spirit that RBVZ workers gave racers  in Riga, mixed with the clean Alpine snow and the Spirit of Victors, helped our brave drivers survive and reach the finish first.

Later, after replacing the “spirit” with Cognac, sipping it in Monaco, Nágel made a funny drawing, signing it in French: “L’Esprit de Victors.”

.....BUT THAT’S NOT THE WHOLE STORY — HERE’S WHY THE SKULL.

As our factory’s history is deeply connected to the military industry - from armored trains and cars to the world’s first four-engine bomber, created by Igor Sikorsky, and even to the world’s first tank.


For military people, the skull and bones have always been symbols of bravery and immortality. Not many know that the skull is the only bone that never rots - that’s why archaeologists find far more skulls than ribs.


That’s why soldiers facing death were drawing skulls and bones on their armored cars and airplanes, and using them as regiment symbols.

So our choice of symbol is not just “one more skull in a helmet” - that’s bravery, immortality, that’s our Spirit and DNA. And it’s our tribute to the Victors and to our military heritage.

 

This is the story behind one of the most unique company brand identities - an identity that may look random and common, but that’s only visual.

And last but not least - we are from Riga, the capital of Art Deco style. That’s why we decided to create our brand identity in Art Deco style - to give one more nod to our past, our present, and our future.

 Our immortality is infinite - and that’s been proven through decades of fights, rises and falls, triumphs and losses.

ALADEEN HOLLYWOOD - OPULENCE UNHINGED, FLAIR WITHOUT BOUNDARIES

 The romance between DARTZ and Hollywood started a decade before The Dictator, but we can count that The Dictator movie put DARTZ on a new level, while also setting a new trend in the car world - golden cars. Sheikhs, rappers, and just boyracers have no idea that it all started with Aladeen. Golden cars became a symbol of opulence, jumping out of their pants and screaming, “I am RICHER!!!” These golden cars are connected with another symbol -The Dictator hood ornament, The Spirit of Aladeen, which reflects the DARTZ soul in its best, literally naked-truth form. 

THE SPIRIT OF ALADEEN - THE VIRUS THAT WENT VIRAL

 The Spirit of Aladeen is not just about the movie. It’s about how a small boutique carrosserie stepped onto the same level as Aston Martin joining the James Bond saga, or the DeLorean in Back to the Future. 

The Spirit of Aladeen elevated DARTZ opulence to a whole new, over-the-top level. The Golden Cars from The Dictator became copied, parodied, and iconic. 

They turned into a “must-have” in Cannes, LA, Dubai, London, Tokyo, and Ar Riyadh. The world’s smallest car creator became a global trend - all thanks to Aladeen. This is the Spirit of Aladeen. A spirit which, combined with the Spirit of Victors, propelled DARTZ to new heights - heights that may not have been achievable without it. 

THE SPIRIT OF ALADEEN - WHERE HOLLYWOOD XTRAVAGANCE MEETS OPULENCE

 

The story of The Spirit of Aladeen as a mascot is no less intriguing than the Spirit of Victors as a badge and brand identity. When Hollywood commissioned DARTZ to create The Dictator Car — an escort meant to “fuck” Rolls-Royce — DARTZ took it literally.


Alongside the golden car escort, a hood ornament was crafted: a Hollywood Oscar with Aladeen’s Supreme Beard, positioned behind - supporting from back - the famous Rolls-Royce Spirit of Ecstasy. Two versions were made — one with the Supreme Beard for the movie, and one without, for the infamous Aladeen prank at the Oscars.


The producers, anticipating that BMW - the proud owner of the Spirit of Ecstasy - would go to court, had no budget to resolve legal issues. As a result, the mascot had to be redesigned almost beyond recognition.


Exact this figure decorate Curtis James Jackson III, a.k.a. 50 Cent,  Rolls-Royce, he posted that in his instagramm with the words: “I do it different. OK?”

THE SPIRIT OF ALADEEN - HOLLYWOOD CALLING

 

Being Spirited by Victors and Aladeen

Once DARTZ got infused with the Spirit of Victors and the blessing of Admiral General Aladeen, it stopped being just a must-have for Sheikhs and the occasional Taste-Impaired Coal Boss  ©  [Jing Daily] and became the guilty pleasure of Hollywood itself.


Because when celebrities already own every car the supermarket can sell, the only thing left is something the supermarket wouldn’t dare to stock. 

And there is nothing, but DARTZ left.


Suddenly, studio lots turned into armored fashion shows. Directors demanded DARTZ on set “for morale.” Stuntmen prayed to it. Even agents approved - a historic first.

And every time a DARTZ rolled in, someone whispered: "Aladeen would be proud."


In a world where stars want more than money can buy, there’s only one answer:

Go DARTZ. Go Aladeen.

ARMOURED BY HISTORY - TRAINS, CARS, BOMBERS, TANKS

 Our ancestors at RBVZ began with everything that moves - from trains to cars - and naturally, protection followed. The first was Royal Armoured Train, later RBVZ armnoured train became the backbone of the Estonian Armored Train Regiment  (Soomusrongirügement) , whose regimental badge now graces our Coat of Arms.

RBVZ cars shared the same destiny: from rally victories to the battlefield, they were dressed for combat. This lineage continued with the bombers of Igor Sikorsky and the tanks of Porohovscikov, blending innovation with battlefield experience.

Building on these traditions, DARTZ has forged its own GBOL technology.

MAJESTY IN MOTION - CARRIAGES, TRAINS, CARS, AIRPLANES

 

As suppliers to European royal courts, the ancestors of DARTZ, RBVZ, set the standard for opulence. Every creation embodied unmatched craftsmanship - from train coach interiors, meticulously built following the finest traditions of the era, to bulletproof leather uniforms for pilots. One of these uniforms, crafted by family members of Levi’s Jeans founder Jacob Davis (Yakov Yufess), appears in the iconic image of Igor Sikorsky, symbolizing the seamless fusion of elegance, protection, and functionality.

Opulence at RBVZ was never superficial; it was engineered, tailored, and enduring. 

Opuleence was built into every curve of a carriage, every stitch of leather, every mechanism of a car. 

Vehicles were more than machines - they were moving works of art, a reflection of prestige and technical mastery.

This dedication to perfection carried forward into DARTZ’s modern era. DARTZ is copied—fully, partly, directly, indirectly—people follow DARTZ trends without even realizing it. And we love it.

The Ⓓ symbol replaces ©because:

  • D     is the first letter of DARTZ
  • D     stands for Drive - and that’s what we do.
  • D     also represents Overdrive, which is pure DARTZ spirit.

Until 24.02.2022, our logo had Z - the last letter in the alphabet, a symbol of excellence. But since Z became associated with war, a crypto-swastika, we removed it. You may still find our old logo in Wikipedia, but Z is no longer in the DARTZ Black Book Ⓓ.

No SUVs at DARTZ - We Create BOND’s Ⓓ

Our clients already own all the sport carsthey desire. If one doesn’t exist, they order a Bespoke version built just for them.


They don’t need an Escalade or GLS for Nürburgring.


"Utility?" Yes, our clients visit shopping malls - but they don’t load trunks themselves. That’s why they buy utility cars for their staff.

But they still need a V (Vehicle), and that’s where DARTZ comes in.
We don’t build SUVs - we build BOND’s Ⓓ:

  • B     - Bespoke (built for You and Only)
  • O     - Opulent Ⓓ (more on that later)
  • N     - Noble (as one of the last Karrozzerie that supplied Royal      Families since the 19th century)
  • D     - Drive (D for DARTZ, D for Drive - just switch on your      imagination)

So, no SUVs at DARTZ.


We provide BOND’s Ⓓ - DARTZ BOND’s.


And our Supreme Leader Leo already declared this in Forbes in 2013 when launching the DARTZ Prombron' Black Snake. Later, Rolls-Royce Cullinan also decided it wasn’t an SUV.
Was that because of Leo’s words? No one can confirm or deny.
But for us, it’s just another standard set by DARTZ.


At DARTZ, HP is now settled as SF. Today and For©Ever.

  As DARTZ The Supreme Leader told BBC: “Luxury is too common a word. You can buy it in a supermarket". 

That in itself became a statement - one we have nothing to add to. At DARTZ, we deliver Opulence. Royal Opulence.

He says it's like "two ladies [who] will hate to come to a party [wearing] the same dress".

Mr Yankelovich says his customers are often driven by a need to own something exclusive. Essentially they want something that other people cannot have, and that has been made especially for them.

In order to serve this market, he says he has to go beyond ordinary luxury.
